Policies

LCSH has developed a collection of policies to cover most contigencies in an organized and fair manner.  All of these policies are covered in our Parent Handbook which is available here on our site.

Policies covered in the handbook include: diapering, toileting, rest/napping, sickness, first aid, hygiene, drop-off/pick-up, medication administration, discipline, visiting, custody orders, authorized adults, tuition, withdrawals, medical/health form requirements, evacuation, clothing and supplies, holidays, birthday parties, etc.

LCSH reserves the right to change or amend the policies at any time, and will provide written notice to parents via a notice or email.

Facilities & Curriculum

Our classrooms contain safe, age-appropriate, creativity-inspiring toys and equipment, including a wide variety of art and building materials, costumes, water tables, sand tables, and lego tables.  We even have a sand room in the preschool! Our baby room has calm and soothing sleep areas and a vibrant and fun play area. The Preschool and Pre-K classes have computers for supervised use of educational software. A professional musician/singer visits every classroom each week to enhance our music curriculum.

Little Corner SchoolHouse does not recycle the same curriculum year after year.  Our teachers are actively involved in planning curriculum that has specific interest to their classroom, and to what is going on in our community. Each classroom puts together a program each month that is rich in art, music, science, literature, culinary arts, and friendship lessons - all including the most important part - play!

For security, we do not publish any information about our monthly schedules on the web site.  Please contact us by
email or at 617-975-3777 to discuss particular classroom schedules.

Our facilities are accessible by foot, car and public transportation and are within easy walking distance of several parks and playgrounds. The park used as our primary outdoor play area has spaces and equipment appropriate for the different needs of younger and older children.

Our location in the heart of Brookline allows us wonderful learning opportunities. We make regular trips to the library and many of the neighboring businesses in the area are happy to host us and let the children see up close how they operate.  Recent local visits include: the post office, fire department, court house, a bakery, a chocolate shop, a bank, and a dog groomer. The children love being a part of the community!
